Comments: | There is commercial breeding in several inland fish farms throughout the country and it has been stocked in many reservoirs as a biological control for pest species. A single specimen (3 kg.) was collected on May 21, 2000 in the Shokek Spring in the Beit Shean Valley. Another (350 mm TL) was caught in July 19, 1999 at the Maor-Hadera Power Station Harbor on the Mediterranean Coast of Israel near the effluence from a nearby island freshwater farm from which it evidently escaped (Ref. 37616).
